This is great, now :apple: seem to be back on track to continuously release improved hardware technology.
It was sad when they took away the Firewire out of the iPod.
Something like the European requirement, in the US the cable TV providers have to provide firewire equipped cable boxes, so the users can get Firewire video out them. Normally you have to ask for it, and they have to give it to you.
Thunderbolt will kick ass.

anyone know how to get multi touch gestures with 4.3.2 on my ipad ?
You need to have a Macboook or imac. Go to app store. Buy. Xcode for $5. Install. Hook up iPad. Bring up xcode. It will detect iPad. Click "use for development" then just use your apple id credentials. Finally go to ipad dsettings and click on yes for multitasking getures.

Yes, that's what I finally paid my $500 for: to get the head start this time around. WWDC from Australia is just a "little" too much for me.

Just checked into an Apple Store in Salem, NH - they have high end Verizon iPad 2 and they have had them regularly. Asians have been scooping up the stores other versions each morning in cash sales (or purchasing mall gift cards and Apple gift cards).
They said consumer demand is much greater for AT&T (GSM) iPad 2 than Verizon.
I'll wait for my wifi iPad 2 to arrive in the mail sometime next week.

I'm weird. They are going to cut a 6-inch hole in my back and remove one of my lamina and a disc, and I'm worried about anesthesia.

Having had a couple general anesthesia surgeries, I've found the experiences from my childhood and early adulthood remarkably similar.
1) Wheeled into the prep room, and doctor inserts IV with some sort of relaxation medicine - everything gets really happy, warm and drowsy all at the same time. I start babbling like an idiot.
2) Wheeled into the operating room (still conscious), doctor places mask over my face and says, "breathe deeply." I take a couple deep breaths while remaining conscious enough to see other doctors breaking out the tools and scalpals.
3) I panic, thinking "ohmygod I'm still conscious, I'm going to see and feel everything. It's going to be just like the 60-Minutes episode they aired in the 80s about patients remaining awake during surgery. I'm going to go insane with the pain and agony!"
4) On about the third deep breath I fall unconscious.
5) Wake up moments later in the prep room feeling sick to my stomach and sore. Throw up. Doctors pump some anti-nausea meds into my IV and everything is OK.
6) Realize that it's three hours later than "a moment ago" and that I'm really sore.
Seriously though, the first operation when they knock you out is scary, but the anticipation is much worse than the actual experience. Hope all goes well for you...

They're going to realize that the existing machines they have- or Windows machines that can be had for much cheaper- are quite capable of handling any non-classified activity without switching to new hardware.
The Government, I mean serious government, with big purchasing power gets great deals on Mac's better than you think and competitive to the high end systems you might get from Dell etc

I bought a Verizon iPad because I have an AT&T iPhone. I figured that if one doesn't work, the other will. I saw no need to get two devices on the same network.
But go ahead, explain to me why that's stupid, since I clearly don't get it and I'm ignorant. :rolleyes:
Could be they made many more Verizon models. Could also be that ATT models are being bought for resale overseas. Nothing wrong with that, which is what the OP was implying, I think. Could also be a combination of the two, of course.
Thankfully, there's no moral, ethical, or legal responsibility saying what you should do with your legally obtained, publicly available tech item. You can use it, blend it, sell it to your neighbor, use it as a frisbee, or even carry it on a plane and once you land, you can do all those same things EVEN if your plane landed near a bunch of Asians instead of near a bunch of white people. Crazy, huh?

Well, without looking at 1.5 itself I'm pretty pleased. Seems many of the things the serious users were asking for (esp on Apple's Aperture Discussion forum) are there.
I REALLY hope / expect that Apple improved the keyword DB code - since they now have the offline option, this all had to be rewritten. I'm expecting this to be the MAJOR improvement in Ap 1.5 in terms of usability and speed, and might be the reason that they dropped the supported specs to includer all Mac Intel boxes.
On a related note, I'm VERY happy to see improved keywording and searching, esp the "no" keyword search option. Though a minor thing (compared to offline support), this always drives me nuts in the current version:
Add, maintain, and update keywords more easily using improved keyword management options � even lock the Keyword HUD to prevent inadvertent changes...
Quickly find all images with �any� keyword assigned or with �no� keyword assigned when searching by IPTC info using the Query HUD...
Search for images by file status � i.e., �offline,� �online,� or �referenced� � using a new Query option...
Correct spelling, revise wording, or completely delete metadata/keyword entries using the new Autofill Editor.
Finally, iPod integration an interesting new feature that we won't fully appreciate for a while - I wonder why the iTunes store video downloads were upgraded in size recently but no current iPod can take advantage of this new format. I still speculate that we'll see a new larger format Video iPod that can do double duty for us photographers. I'd love to see the ability to Stack and apply exisiting keywording to RAW images int the field via an Ipod:

Yes, T-Mobile uses 2100 Mhz, which iPhone supports, but they also use 1700 Mhz, which no iPhone yet supports. You'd need both to use T-Mobile's 3G network.
It would be much easier to add the 1700 Mhz band than to create a CDMA iPhone, though I think both are likely.

The iOS has some good games, but older games made for joystick/buttons/paddles don't quite cut it. I can't imagine Tempest with at least buttons (though the knob is ideal).
I like TRON and the game for the DS you have to use the touchscreen for some of the battles. The Tank and Disc battles the stylus/finger gets in the way of the playing screen.
The PSP version you just use the buttons, keeping the screen clear for viewing.
I think Sony's design of a rear touchpad on the new PSP will be the answer to a lot of "mobile touch gaming".

Like HP Envy against the MBP, or Sony VIAO Z or Samsung Series 9 against the MBA.
I guess they realized that if they actually do a fair comparison, you won't have enough money left over to go to Hawaii. You might even spend a bit more on the PC.

My Late-2009 Mac Pro runs it on Ultra settings with no lag or stuttering. I don't know the frame rate, but it looks like it's at least 50fps to me. Very smooth, even during very large battles.
Your i7 iMac should be fine.
